PART 61 GROUND SCHOOL
FAR Part 61 is a section of the Federal Aviation Regulations that outlines the rules for earning a pilot’s license in the United States, including how students can begin training and what they need to learn. It allows students to train with certified flight instructors and sets the requirements for flight hours, testing, and eligibility for different pilot certificates like Private or Commercial Pilot. Part 61 also includes ground school, which teaches students important topics like weather, navigation, airspace, and FAA regulations. This ground school is required to help students prepare for the FAA written knowledge test and fly safely and legally.
SIMULATOR TRAINING
After each ground school lesson, we get to use the Redbird Flight Simulators to practice what we just learned in a fun and hands-on way. Our program includes 18 Redbird TD simulators, which are great for learning the basics of flying and getting comfortable with the controls. We also have one Redbird MCX full-motion simulator, which moves like a real plane and has two seats so we can practice working with a co-pilot. These simulators make it easier to understand flying and help us get ready for real flight training.
LOCATION & TIME
The Aviation High School Flight Club is located on the First Floor shop wing, We hold meetings usually at room 111 right next to the FAA office. Each meeting is hosted on every Friday and begins at 16:15 and ends around 18:00. Each meeting time will vary due to an specific lesson or instructor availability.
NATIONAL FLIGHT ACADEMY
The flagship experience at the National Flight Academy, the 6-Day Deployment immerses students in a high-tech, aviation-themed learning environment aboard the simulated aircraft carrier AMBITION CVT-11. Over six action-packed days and nights, participants become part of a squadron, living and working like naval aviators as they tackle dynamic STEM-based missions.
Students engage in hands-on activities that incorporate flight planning, aircraft operations, navigation, aerodynamics, meteorology, and mission execution — all while building leadership, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. Each deployment culminates in a formal graduation ceremony at the renowned National Naval Aviation Museum. Meals, lodging, and all program materials are included.
The Aviation High School Flying Club usually is granted 2-4 slots each year by sponsors such as Delta to go expense free. We hold annual competitions mid year, winners are granted the opportunities.

YOUNG EAGLES RALLYS
Young Eagles Rallies are events organized by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) to introduce young people aged 8 to 17 to aviation through free introductory flights with volunteer pilots. These rallies aim to spark interest in flying and aviation careers by giving participants the chance to experience flight firsthand. After their flight, each young person receives a certificate making them an official "Young Eagle," and their name is recorded in the EAA's "World’s Largest Logbook" at the AirVenture Museum. Participation is usually free, and events are held worldwide.
