Our mission is to develop in our students the Math skills that they will need to be successful in college, their career, and throughout their life. Our classes are designed to meet and exceed the Common Core Learning Standards for mathematical content and practice. Rather than asking students to memorize a set of procedures and apply them to standard types of exercises, our goal is for all students to deepen their understanding of content knowledge and strengthen their logical reasoning ability by exploring mathematical content in context. Through this process, it is our hope that all students experience mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject.

Graphing Calculator Policy
Graphing calculators are required for the New York State Regents Examinations as well as Advanced Placement Exams. At Aviation HS, all students will utilize graphing calculators, beginning with 9th grade.
In order to insure that each entering student is prepared to use technology in the mathematics classroom, it is highly recommended that every incoming student purchase a graphing calculator. TI-84 plus edition is preferred.
